Group One winner Planteur is among a 21-strong entry for the York Stakes on Saturday.

The five-year-old landed the Prix Ganay in April 2011, when in the care of Elie Lellouche, and is now in the hands of Marco Botti.

Planteur has already taken minor honours for the Newmarket trainer in the Dubai World Cup and the Prix d’Ispahan but he was unplaced in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot on his latest start.

Botti will keep an eye on weather conditions before deciding whether to take his charge to the Knavesmire.

He has also entered Marcret, who won the Huxley Stakes at Chester on his penultimate outing.

“I think the key for Planteur is to be fresh and we are looking at running in the Sky Bet Stakes, depending on the ground,” said Botti.

Michael Bell has put in globetrotting duo Allied Powers and Wigmore Hall, while Sir Henry Cecil, who was successful with Twice Over last year, may rely upon Jet Away this time.

Godolphin have four possibles in recent course winner Dubai Prince, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, and three from Saeed bin Suroor’s stable – Hunter’s Light, Retrieve and Sandagiyr.

Luca Cumani has an interesting contender in recent Sandown Listed scorer Afsare, while Roger Varian is looking at this race for Sri Putra and Pekan Star.

Barefoot Lady, Premio Loco, Side Glance and last year’s runner-up Ransom Note are other smart performers in the mix.

The John Dunlop-trained Farhaan is the only three-year-old entry.
