Warwick Farm trainer Ron Leemon believes the return of experienced jockey Rod Quinn can spark a return to winning form for talented galloper Innings at Rosehill on Saturday.

Quinn has only just returned to the saddle after spending more than three months on the sidelines with rib damage as the result of a Wyong fall.

The senior jockey has a great record on the seven-year-old, having ridden the gelding to three of his five career wins.

At his last two starts, Innings has been slow away and Leemon believes it has simply just been bad luck.

“Last start at Randwick, he was laying all over the gates before the race and wasn’t ready to jump,” Leemon said.

“Unfortunately the gates opened and he was left on the back foot.

“Hopefully we can have a bit more luck with Rodney back in the saddle.”

Leemon believes his horse is going well enough to figure in the finish of the Franklins Supermarket Handicap (1400m).

“He’s probably down in class from his last couple of runs,” Leemon said.

“If he jumps with them and has luck, I expect him to be very competitive on Saturday.”

The Rosehill meeting is expected to be run on rain-affected ground but this shouldn’t pose a problem for the son of Over.

“He should have no worries on the softer ground,” Leemon said

“He won on a wet track earlier in his career.”
