As a major lead up race to the Golden Rose the 2010 Run To The Rose looks to be a very classy field with most runners aiming for the Golden Rose in two weeks time. Squamosa is the short priced favourite for tomorrow’s headline race at Rosehill and is currently the 3rd favourite to win the 2010 Golden Rose.
The Gai Waterhouse unbeaten Colt Squamosa has opened as the $2.20 favourite to win tomorrow’s Run To The Rose and we feel this is a very good price, both wins of his have been by 3 Lengths and we feel he is a very classy colt whom should be favourite for the Golden Rose due to his current fitness advantage over the other hopefuls.
On the second line of betting is another unbeaten 3YO colt from the David Payne stable “Masquerader” who will be returning from a 4 month spell after winning the 2010 Todman Stakes ahead of the 2010 Golden Slipper runner up Decision Time.
On paper it looks to be a race between the two mentioned runners which is highlighted in the betting market with the 3rd hopeful Sasa opening at $7.50, it will be a very interesting race which will outline how classy the newcomer Squamosa is or if his recent dominating wins where due to the poor quality of opposition.
